this record does a fantastic job of bringing darkwave into the next decade. it provides a much-needed change-up to the dynamics of the genre's sound, with fantastic songwriting to boot. this dynamic duo makes a push toward the future with witty samples and creative dynamic shifts, yet stay true to the genre's roots by using an entirely analog setup. there's not a single miss on here. buried statues are a force to be reckoned with, and "district" is a hell of a debut. 8/10.
